About Lucy Rodwell

I am Lucy Rodwell, a chiropractor registered with the General Chiropractic Council. I graduated with a Master of Chiropractic 12 years ago and have been providing chiropractic care to patients in the Pewsey area ever since. I am fully insured and committed to helping patients manage their musculoskeletal health through evidence-based treatment and have a particular interest in nutrition. I have worked in many sports after completing further training to become an internationally qualified sports practitioner (ICCCSP), as well as recently completing a postgraduate nutrition qualification with ION in Nutritional Therapy.

What to expect

My approach begins with a thorough assessment of your biomechanical issues to understand the source of your discomfort. I work within the limits of my competence and will refer you to other healthcare professionals when appropriate to ensure you receive the most suitable care for your needs. Your treatment plan will be explained after the consultation before beginning any treatment. There is no need for GP referral. Most people see an improvement within 3-6 treatments.

Treatment Approach

I utilise a range of treatment techniques tailored to each patient's individual needs. My approach includes chiropractic manipulation to help restore joint function, therapeutic massage techniques, and dry needling for targeted relief. Alongside hands-on treatment, I provide lifestyle advice and guidance on nutrition and nutraceuticals to support your overall well-being and help you achieve optimal musculoskeletal health.

Conditions I Can Help With

I provide chiropractic care for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. My approach combines manual treatment with nutritional guidance to address both symptoms and root causes.

Back Pain & Sciatica

• Acute and chronic lower back pain

• Sciatica and trapped nerves

• Disc-related problems

• Muscle spasms and lumbago

• Post-surgical rehabilitation

Most acute cases improve within 3-6 treatments depending on severity. For chronic back pain, I also assess nutritional factors like inflammation and vitamin deficiencies that may be slowing your recovery.

Neck Pain & Headaches

• Mechanical neck pain and stiffness

• Whiplash and car accident injuries

• Cervicogenic headaches (from neck problems)

• Tension headaches and migraine prevention

• Text neck and posture-related pain

Many patients experience relief after the first session, with significant improvement typically within 4-6 treatments.

Shoulder & Upper Limb Pain

• Frozen shoulder and rotator cuff injuries

• Shoulder impingement and strain

• Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow

• Arm pain and weakness

• Posture-related shoulder problems

Hip, Knee & Leg Pain

• Hip pain and restricted mobility

• Knee pain from osteoarthritis or sports injuries

• Runner’s knee and IT band syndrome

• Leg pain and muscle strains

Treatment addresses spinal alignment, pelvic mechanics, and muscle imbalances that often contribute to lower limb problems.

Pregnancy & Postnatal Care

• Lower back and pelvic pain during pregnancy

• Pelvic girdle pain (PGP) and SPD

• Sciatica in pregnancy

• Postnatal recovery and feeding-related strain

Gentle, pregnancy-safe techniques throughout all stages. Treatment helps you stay comfortable and prepares your body for labor.

FAQs

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No, you can book directly without a GP referral. Chiropractors are primary healthcare practitioners. However, some insurance policies do require a referral for reimbursement, so check your specific policy if you’re claiming.

Is my treatment covered by insurance?

Most private health insurance policies cover chiropractic treatment. I can provide all necessary paperwork for your claim.

How many treatments will I need?

Acute problems (recent injuries): typically 3-6 sessions over 2-4 weeks. Chronic conditions (long-standing pain): usually 6-12 sessions initially, then maintenance care every 4-8 weeks if needed. I’ll give you a realistic treatment plan after your initial assessment - I’m not interested in seeing you more often than necessary.

Is chiropractic treatment safe?

Yes, chiropractic is one of the safest forms of musculoskeletal treatment when performed by a registered practitioner. I’m GCC-registered with 12 years of experience. I take a thorough medical history before treatment and use gentle, evidence-based techniques tailored to your needs. Serious complications are extremely rare.

What happens at my first appointment?

Your initial consultation takes up to 60 minutes and includes a detailed health history, physical examination, diagnosis, and usually your first treatment. You’ll also receive aftercare advice on exercises and lifestyle modifications. Most people can start treatment on the same day. Wear comfortable, loose clothing.

Will the treatment hurt?

No, chiropractic adjustments shouldn’t hurt. You may hear clicking sounds - this is just gas bubbles releasing from joints and is completely normal. Most patients find treatment comfortable and many feel immediate relief. You might experience mild muscle soreness for 24-48 hours afterwards, similar to after exercise.

What makes your approach different?

Unlike traditional chiropractic practices, I can combine manual treatment with some nutritional assessment. With my postgraduate qualification from the Institute for Optimum Nutrition, I can identify whether inflammation, dietary factors, or vitamin deficiencies are contributing to your pain. This holistic approach often achieves faster, more lasting results by addressing root causes, not just symptoms.
